Laboratory [D] Tests
SERVICES AND TREATMENTS
- D-dimer: D-dimer is a fibrin degradation product formed when blood clots dissolve in the body. Elevated levels of D-dimer may indicate the presence of an active blood clotting process in the body, such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), or disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). D-dimer testing is commonly used to help diagnose or rule out these conditions, monitor anticoagulant therapy, and assess the risk of thromboembolic events.
- Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulfate (DHEA-S): Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S) is a steroid hormone produced primarily by the adrenal glands. DHEA-S levels in the blood can serve as a marker of adrenal gland function and overall adrenal androgen production. DHEA-S testing is used in the evaluation of adrenal disorders, such as adrenal insufficiency and adrenal hyperfunction, as well as conditions associated with abnormal androgen levels, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and adrenal tumors.
- Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA): Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is an endogenous steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands, gonads, and brain. It serves as a precursor to other steroid hormones, including testosterone and estrogen. DHEA levels may fluctuate with age, stress, and certain medical conditions. DHEA testing is utilized to assess adrenal function, diagnose adrenal disorders, and evaluate conditions associated with abnormal hormone levels, such as adrenal insufficiency, PCOS, and infertility.
- (Demir) Iron : Iron is an essential mineral necessary for various physiological processes, including oxygen transport, energy metabolism, and DNA synthesis. Iron deficiency or excess can lead to health problems, such as anemia or iron overload disorders. Iron testing measures the concentration of iron in blood serum, plasma, or other biological samples to evaluate iron status and diagnose iron-related disorders.
- (Demir Bağlama Kapasitesi) Total Iron Binding Capacity : Total iron-binding capacity (TIBC) is a measure of the capacity of transferrin, a blood protein, to bind and transport iron. TIBC testing assesses the body’s ability to transport iron in the bloodstream. It is often performed alongside iron tests to help diagnose iron deficiency anemia, iron overload disorders, and other conditions affecting iron metabolism.
- Deoxypyridinoline (DPD): Deoxypyridinoline (DPD) is a biochemical marker of bone resorption, the process by which bone tissue is broken down and minerals are released into the bloodstream. Elevated DPD levels may indicate increased bone turnover and bone loss, which can occur in conditions such as osteoporosis, Paget’s disease, or bone metastases. DPD testing helps assess bone health, monitor response to treatment, and evaluate the risk of fractures.
- Diamine Oxidase (DAO): Diamine oxidase (DAO) is an enzyme involved in the metabolism of histamine, a compound implicated in allergic and inflammatory responses. DAO deficiency or dysfunction may lead to histamine intolerance and symptoms such as headaches, gastrointestinal disturbances, and skin reactions. DAO testing measures DAO activity in blood or other tissues to diagnose DAO deficiency and guide dietary and therapeutic interventions for histamine-related disorders.
- Diazepam: Diazepam is a benzodiazepine medication commonly used to treat anxiety, muscle spasms, seizures, and alcohol withdrawal symptoms. Diazepam testing measures the concentration of diazepam and its metabolites in blood or urine to monitor drug therapy, assess compliance, and detect misuse or overdose.
- Digoxin: Digoxin is a medication derived from the digitalis plant and is used to treat various heart conditions, including heart failure and atrial fibrillation. Digoxin testing measures the concentration of digoxin in blood plasma to ensure therapeutic levels are maintained, monitor drug therapy effectiveness, and prevent toxicity.
- Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) Test: The Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) test measures the levels of DHT, an androgen hormone derived from testosterone, in the blood. DHT plays a role in the development of male reproductive tissues and secondary sexual characteristics. Elevated DHT levels may contribute to conditions such as androgenic alopecia (male pattern baldness) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). DHT testing is used to assess androgen status, diagnose androgen-related disorders, and monitor the effects of hormone replacement therapy.
- Dopamine: Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that plays a crucial role in various physiological processes, including movement, mood regulation, reward pathways, and cognitive function. Dysregulation of dopamine levels has been implicated in conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, and addiction. Dopamine testing measures dopamine levels in blood, urine, or cerebrospinal fluid to aid in the diagnosis and management of neurological and psychiatric disorders.
- (Down Sendromu İkili Tarama Testi) First-Trimester Down Syndrome Screening Test: First-Trimester Down Syndrome Screening, also known as the first-trimester combined test, is a prenatal screening test performed between 11 and 14 weeks of pregnancy to assess the risk of Down syndrome (trisomy 21) and other chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus. The test combines ultrasound measurement of nuchal translucency (thickness of the back of the fetal neck) with maternal blood testing for specific markers, such as pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A) and free beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (beta-hCG). Results are used to guide further diagnostic testing or counseling.
- (Down Sendromu Üçlü Tarama Testi) Triple Screen Test for Down Syndrome: The Triple Screen Test, also known as the triple marker screen or triple test, is a prenatal screening test performed between 15 and 20 weeks of pregnancy to assess the risk of Down syndrome (trisomy 21) and other chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus. The test measures maternal blood levels of three markers: alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), and unconjugated estriol (uE3). Abnormal levels of these markers may indicate an increased risk of certain birth defects or genetic conditions, prompting further evaluation or genetic counseling.
- (Dörtlü Tarama Testi) Quadruple Screen Test for Down Syndrome: The Quadruple Screen Test, also known as the quadruple marker screen or quad test, is a prenatal screening test performed between 15 and 20 weeks of pregnancy to assess the risk of Down syndrome (trisomy 21) and other chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus. The test measures maternal blood levels of four markers: alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), unconjugated estriol (uE3), and inhibin A. Abnormal levels of these markers may indicate an increased risk of certain birth defects or genetic conditions, prompting further evaluation or genetic counseling.
- (Düzeltilmiş Kalsiyum) Corrected Calcium: Corrected Calcium, also known as adjusted calcium, is a calculated value that takes into account the influence of serum albumin levels on total calcium measurements. Since serum calcium levels are affected by changes in albumin concentration, corrected calcium helps adjust for variations in albumin levels to more accurately assess calcium status. Corrected calcium levels are used in the diagnosis and management of disorders affecting calcium metabolism, such as hypercalcemia and hypocalcemia.
