  • Neonatal Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH): Neonatal Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) is a blood test performed in newborns to screen for congenital hypothyroidism, a condition caused by inadequate thyroid hormone production. Elevated TSH levels in the neonatal period indicate possible hypothyroidism, prompting further diagnostic evaluation and treatment to prevent developmental delays.
  • Neuromyelitis Optica IgG (NMO): Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO) IgG is a specific antibody associated with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD), a rare autoimmune disease affecting the central nervous system. Testing for NMO IgG antibodies helps in the diagnosis and differentiation of NMOSD from other neurological conditions, guiding appropriate management strategies.
  • Nickel: Nickel is a metallic element found in various industrial products, jewelry, and everyday items. Exposure to nickel can occur through inhalation, ingestion, or skin contact, and excessive exposure may lead to nickel allergy, dermatitis, or systemic toxicity. Dysfunction of NMDA receptors has been implicated in various neurological and psychiatric disorders.
  • Noradrenaline (Norepinephrine): Noradrenaline, also known as norepinephrine, is a neurotransmitter and hormone involved in the body’s stress response, regulation of blood pressure, and modulation of mood and arousal. It is synthesized in nerve cells and adrenal glands and acts on adrenergic receptors in various tissues to elicit physiological responses.

  • Neuron-Specific Enolase (NSE – ENO2 – Enolase 2): Neuron-Specific Enolase (NSE), also known as Enolase 2, is an enzyme primarily found in neurons and neuroendocrine cells. It plays a role in glycolysis and is released into the bloodstream following neuronal injury or damage. NSE levels are used as a biomarker for assessing neuronal damage in conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Nuclear Matrix Protein 22 (NMP 22): Nuclear Matrix Protein 22 (NMP 22) is a protein found in the cell nucleus that is overexpressed in certain types of cancer, particularly bladder cancer. Testing for NMP 22 levels in urine samples is used as an adjunctive tool for the detection and monitoring of bladder cancer, especially in patients with hematuria or a history of the disease.
