Laboratory [I] Tests
SERVICES AND TREATMENTS
- IgG Index: The IgG index is a calculation used to assess the presence of abnormal immunoglobulin G (IgG) levels in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) compared to blood serum. It helps diagnose conditions affecting the central nervous system, such as multiple sclerosis and infectious diseases.
- IgA: IgA testing measures the levels of immunoglobulin A (IgA), a type of antibody, in blood serum. IgA plays a crucial role in mucosal immunity and helps protect against infections in the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts. Abnormal IgA levels may indicate immune deficiencies or autoimmune disorders.
- IgD Test: IgD testing measures the levels of immunoglobulin D (IgD), a type of antibody, in blood serum. IgD is found in small amounts in the bloodstream and its specific functions are not fully understood. Elevated IgD levels may occur in certain immune system disorders.
- IgE: IgE testing measures the levels of immunoglobulin E (IgE), a type of antibody involved in allergic reactions, in blood serum. IgE triggers the release of histamine and other chemicals that cause allergy symptoms. Elevated IgE levels are associated with allergies, asthma, and parasitic infections.
- IgG: IgG testing measures the levels of immunoglobulin G (IgG), the most abundant type of antibody in blood serum. IgG plays a crucial role in long-term immunity against infections and provides protection to newborns through passive immunity. Abnormal IgG levels may indicate immune deficiencies or autoimmune diseases.
- IgG1: IgG1 testing measures the levels of immunoglobulin G subclass 1 (IgG1), a specific type of IgG antibody, in blood serum. IgG1 is involved in immune responses against bacterial and viral infections and is associated with allergic reactions and autoimmune diseases.
- IgG2: IgG2 testing measures the levels of immunoglobulin G subclass 2 (IgG2), a specific type of IgG antibody, in blood serum. IgG2 plays a role in immune responses against bacterial polysaccharides and is important for defense against encapsulated bacteria.
- IgG3: IgG3 testing measures the levels of immunoglobulin G subclass 3 (IgG3), a specific type of IgG antibody, in blood serum. IgG3 is involved in immune responses against bacterial and viral infections and is associated with inflammation and autoimmune diseases.
- IgG4: IgG4 testing measures the levels of immunoglobulin G subclass 4 (IgG4), a specific type of IgG antibody, in blood serum. IgG4 is involved in immune responses against allergens and is associated with allergic diseases, autoimmune pancreatitis, and certain other conditions.
- IgM: IgM testing measures the levels of immunoglobulin M (IgM), the first type of antibody produced during an initial immune response to infections. IgM is found in blood serum and plays a key role in the body’s defense against bacteria and viruses. Abnormal IgM levels may indicate acute or chronic infections, immune deficiencies, or autoimmune diseases.
- Insulin-Like Growth Factor Binding Protein-3 (IGF-BP3): IGF-BP3 testing measures the levels of insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 in blood serum. IGF-BP3 binds to insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) and regulates their activity, influencing cell growth and metabolism. Abnormal levels of IGF-BP3 may indicate growth disorders, endocrine abnormalities, or certain types of cancer.
- (İdrar Kültürü) Urine Culture: Urine culture is a laboratory test used to detect and identify bacteria or other microorganisms in a urine sample. It helps diagnose urinary tract infections (UTIs) and determine the most effective antibiotic treatment.
- Immunofixation Electrophoresis: Immunofixation electrophoresis (IFE) is a laboratory technique used to separate and identify proteins in blood serum or urine based on their charge and size. It helps diagnose and monitor conditions such as multiple myeloma, Waldenström macroglobulinemia, and other protein-related disorders.
- Infliximab: Infliximab is a medication used to treat autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, psoriasis, and ankylosing spondylitis. It works by inhibiting tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), a protein involved in inflammation.
- Influenza A+B Test: The Influenza A+B test is a rapid diagnostic test used to detect the presence of influenza A and influenza B viruses in respiratory samples, such as nasal swabs or throat swabs. It helps diagnose influenza infections quickly, allowing for timely treatment and infection control measures.
- Inhalant Panel: An inhalant panel is a diagnostic test used to identify specific allergens that trigger allergic reactions in individuals with respiratory allergies, such as hay fever or allergic asthma. The panel typically includes common inhalant allergens such as pollen, dust mites, mold spores, and pet dander.
- Inhibin A: Inhibin A testing measures the levels of inhibin A hormone in blood serum. Inhibin A is produced by the ovaries and helps regulate the menstrual cycle and fertility in women. Abnormal levels of inhibin A may indicate ovarian dysfunction or certain types of ovarian tumors.
- Inhibin B: Inhibin B testing measures the levels of inhibin B hormone in blood serum. Inhibin B is produced by the ovaries and testes and plays a role in regulating the production of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in the pituitary gland. It is used to assess ovarian and testicular function.
- Insulin: Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that plays a key role in regulating blood sugar levels. It allows cells to absorb glucose from the bloodstream, which is then used for energy or stored for future use. Insulin testing measures the levels of insulin in blood serum or plasma and is used to diagnose and monitor diabetes and other metabolic disorders.
- Interleukin-1 Beta (IL-1 Beta; Catabolin): Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine produced by various immune cells in response to infection, injury, or inflammation. It plays a central role in the body’s inflammatory response and immune defense mechanisms. IL-1 Beta testing measures the levels of IL-1β in blood serum or other biological fluids and is used to assess inflammation and immune system activity in various diseases and conditions.
- Interleukin-6 (IL-6): Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a cytokine produced by immune cells, as well as other cell types, in response to inflammation, infection, or tissue injury. It has both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory effects and plays a role in immune regulation, hematopoiesis, and acute-phase responses. IL-6 testing measures the levels of IL-6 in blood serum or plasma and is used to assess inflammation, autoimmune diseases, and certain cancers.
- (İyot) Iodine (Iodide): Iodine is an essential mineral that is required for the synthesis of thyroid hormones, which regulate metabolism, growth, and development. Iodine deficiency can lead to thyroid disorders, including goiter, hypothyroidism, and developmental abnormalities. Iodine testing measures the levels of iodine in urine, blood, or other biological samples and is used to assess iodine status and diagnose thyroid disorders.
