- Ureaplasma Urealyticum and Mycoplasma Culture: This test involves culturing a sample, often from urine or genital swabs, to detect the presence of Ureaplasma urealyticum and Mycoplasma species. These bacteria are commonly found in the urogenital tract and can cause infections such as urethritis and genital tract infections.
- Urea: Urea is a waste product formed in the liver as a result of protein metabolism. This test measures the level of urea in the blood or urine, providing information about kidney function and protein metabolism. Elevated levels of urea in the blood may indicate kidney dysfunction or dehydration.
- Urethral Discharge Culture: This test involves culturing a sample of discharge from the urethra to detect the presence of infectious agents such as bacteria or viruses. It is used to diagnose sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as gonorrhea and chlamydia, as well as other urethral infections.
- Uric Acid: Uric acid is a waste product formed from the breakdown of purines, which are substances found in certain foods and in the body’s tissues. This test measures the level of uric acid in the blood or urine. Elevated levels of uric acid in the blood may indicate gout, a type of arthritis, or other conditions such as kidney disease.
- Urinary Stone Analysis: This test involves analyzing a sample of urinary stones (calculi) to determine their composition. Urinary stones are solid particles that form in the kidneys or urinary tract due to the precipitation of minerals and other substances. Knowing the composition of urinary stones can help guide treatment and prevention strategies.
